Countrywide U-17 National Football Tournament on the docks

Dhaka, February 13: In order to keep the young generation safe from drugs and militancy, a step has been taken to arrange U-17 National Football Tournament nationwide.

An inter-ministerial meeting took the decision in a meeting held on Tuesday, February 13, at the Youth and Sports Ministry.

State Minister for youth and sports Arif Khan Joy presided over the meeting, which was attended by ministry secretary Md Asadul Islam, BFF President Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin and representatives from the finance division, secondary and higher secondary education department, service protection department, women and children department, local government division and the Cabinet Division. Representatives from the Jamalpur district administration also attended the meeting.

The National Sports Commission (NSC), under the Youth and Sports Ministry is constructing mini-stadiums in every Upazila across the country and the meeting stressed on keeping the grounds available for playtime all round the year.

Stakeholders in the meeting called for everyone’s support to arrange and form the regulations needed for the nationwide U-17 Football Tournament 2018.

The meeting decided that the nationwide tournament can be held from the next fiscal year.
