U15 boys geared up ahead of SAFF championship

Dhaka, August 13: Bangladesh U-15 national football team is geared up to grab on to the title of the Saff U15 Championship scheduled to be held at Nepal from August 18.

The team, guided under former national defender Parvez Babu, is scheduled to fly for the Himalayan state on Wednesday.

In the official press meet held at the BFF House on Sunday, coach Parvez Babu hoped to put the best in order to retain the title.

Bangladesh had won the title in the last edition and the coach wants to continue the success spree. “We are the defending champions, and it will act as our motivation to uphold the flag of the country again.”

The coach says hosts Nepal and India both are title contenders, and Bangladesh will first target the semis and will think about the next step then.

Talking about the preparation, Parvez Babu said he was satisfied with it. “We worked hard for over a month, we have 11 players from BKSP and other players who have played in the Super Mokh Cup. I know them, and I am confident with them. We will try our best to succeed.”

Skipper Ziad Hossain puts the faith in his team, and said the performance was satisfactory. “The coach always said that we will fly to Nepal to be the champions and we are prepared for the hard times ahead. We are confident of our strengths,” the youngster added.

Bangladesh is pitted in the group A facing Sri Lanka on August 18 and will face Bhutan on August 22 to complete the group matches.
