Saif beats Dhaka Abahani 2-1

Dhaka , November 13: Saif Sporting Club claims 2nd spot in BPL beating holders Dhaka Abahani 2-1 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday.

Wedson Anselme put Saif Sporting ahead off a penalty in the 32nd minute after Abahani defender Samad Yousif handled the ball inside the box. Wedson made no mistake to hit the back of the net with a neat grounder (1-0).

In the 75th minute English forward Edward Sheringham marked his debut in the BPL with a headed goal off a corner of midfielder Jamal Bhuiyan (2-0)

Abahani’s consolation was netted by Nigerian Sunday Chizoba in the penultimate minute off the match. Defender Ariful Islam’s handball prompted the referee to point to the spot and Sunday stepped up to convert it (2-1)

Abahani won the first phase duel 3-2.
