SAFF: U18 girls glide to final beating Bhutan 4-0

Thimpu: Bangladesh U18 women’s team registered a comfortable 4-0 win against hosts Bhutan in the semis to make their way to the final of the SAFF U18 Women’s Championship 2018. The Bengal Girls looked like the superior side of the contest right from the word go. The Red and Greens began the match with high intensity when the game kicked-off at 7:00pm at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu on Friday. Sanjida Akhter took only 2 minutes to break the deadlock. Then skipper Mishrat Jahan Moushumi added the second right before the half time whistle three minutes into extra time. After the break, star forward Krishna Rani Sarker almost ensured Bangladesh’s final berth with the third in the 60th minute. In the 86th minute, Shamsunnahar successfully converted a spot-kick to put the cherry on top of a very tasty cake for Bangladesh. Bangladesh will face Nepal in the final who beat India 3-1 in penalties after the first semifinal ended at 1-1. The final match between Nepal and Bangladesh will kick-off at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu at 7:00pm on Sunday, October 7.
