U16 girls thrash UAE 7-0

Dhaka: Bangladesh U16 women’s national team destroyed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) 7-0 in their third match of the ongoing Group F matches of the AFC U16 Women’s Championship 2019 qualifiers at the BSSSM Mostofa Kamal Stadium in Kamlapur, Dhaka on Friday. With this win, the Bengal girls went top of the group jointly with Vietnam who also have 9 points from 3 games and the exact same goal difference of +25. The Red and Greens broke the deadlock in the 7th minute when forward Shamsunnahar scored from the spot. Then Bangladesh number 9 Anuching Mogini completed her hattrick within 9 minutes scoring in the 27th, 34th and 36th minute. The one to complete the treble was an spectacular overhead kick. In the second minute of the added time at the end of the first half, UAE defender Aalya Humaid headed in an own goal trying to clear a Bangladesh corner. The teams went into the break with Bangladesh leading 5-0. The speed of the game fell a little as rain started to pour down in Kamlapur. However, the Bengal girls did extend their lead in the 78th minute when the UAE goalkeeper misjudged a cross from defender Anai Mogini and the ball went straight in. Then in the fourth minute of the added time, Mosammat Ilamoni put the cherry on top of a very tasty cake. Bangladesh will play their last match against trailblazers Vietnam and the Red and Greens have no other option but to beat the Vietnamese to secure a sure-shot berth in the AFC finals.
