Hong Kong, March 29: The Bangladesh National U15 Women’s Team reached Hong Kong safely on Thursday and is ready to take on Malaysia in the first match of Jockey CGI Youth Football Tournament 2018 on Friday.

The players are committed to giving it their all and secure a victory in the tournament opener.

Head Coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, “We are taking our first match very seriously. We will give our hundred percent to try to start the tournament with win.”

Star player and dependable defender Akhi Khatun said, “We are very cautious about the match. But we want to begin the tournament strongly and bag some good results for our country.”

Before leaving for Hong Kong, team captain Maria Manda had expressed her optimism about the tournament.

The skipper said, “We played against Iran earlier and know their strength. Even though Hong Kong and Malaysia are new opponents, we believe that we have the capability to carve out positive results.”

Asked about new comers to the team and absence of proven players who crossed the age group, Maria said, “Yes, some good players are ineligible to play in this tournament. But the new comers are also very good and I believe they have the talent and flair to cover up the seniors’ absence.”

Akhi Khatun also reiterated the captain’s statement and said that the core of the team remains strong and competitive.

The Bangladesh Vs Hong Kong match will kick off at 9:30am Bangladesh time on Friday.

All the players of the team are fit for the match and had a light training session after reaching Hong Kong.
