SAFF: U18 girls emerge as unbeaten Champs

Thimpu: Bangladesh have won the maiden SAFF U18 Women’s Championship beating Nepal 1-0 in the final match at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu on Sunday evening. The Red and Greens dug deep to come out as winners against a tough Nepal side. Both sides played eye-catching football entertaining the crowd even after a goalless first half. In the second half, Bangladesh started with much more intent and after only three minutes won a free-kick near the halfway line. Defender Masura Parvin pushed forward to meet the long set piece and guided the ball with complete composure past the onrushing Nepalese goalkeeper. Her solitary strike was enough to see Bangladesh over the line and claim the maiden SAFF U18 Women’s trophy.
