SAFF U15 Women’s Championship: India beat Bhutan 3-0

Dhaka, December 17: India started their SAFF U15 Women’s Championship campaign with a 3-0 victory over Bhutan in the opening match of the four-nation meet at the Kamlapur stadium on Sunday.

All the three goals were scored in the first half with Kritina Devi opening the scoring on the fourth minute of the match. It was all-out a solo effort before the midfielder finished the job with a powerful drive from the middle of the box (1-0).

Priyanga Devi netted the second off a penalty on the 15th minute (2-0).

Five minutes later, overlapping defender Pratiksha Lakra added the third from 20 yards out. Taking control of a through pass pushed by Kritina Devi, Pratiksha hit the far post net with a looping right footer (3-0)

India would have made it 4-0 in the 64th minute but an acrobatic diving fist by Bhutanese goalie Karma Yuden who rightly anticipated the flight of Nikita Bishi’s drive kept the scoreline unchanged.

India could not have started the tournament better whereas Bhutan have it all to do in their next two matches.
