Jumping five spots up from 188th, Bangladesh National Football Team occupied the 183rd place in the latest FIFA rankings published on Saturday.
The Red and Greens got this reward for their aggregate win against Laos in the joint pre-qualifying round of FIFA World Cup 2022 and AFC Asian Cup 2023.
Team Bangladesh beat their pre-qualifying round opponents Laos 1-0 in their own den on June 6. Later on June 11, they secured their World Cup and Asian Cup joint qualifying round as they won the two-leg tier 1-0 aggregate despite playing out a goalless draw in the second and home leg.
Earlier in April, Bangladesh came forward from 192nd place to hold the 188th place as they had achieved a 1-0 victory against Cambodia in FIFA international friendly on March 9.
After this change in FIFA rankings, Bangladesh is now at the 38th position among the total 46 Asian football playing nations.
Notably, no other country made such a big move (5 ranks) like Bangladesh did in the latest FIFA rankings.
Meanwhile, Belgium are now at the top of the rankings while world champions France are at the second followed by Brazil, England and Portugal respectively.
