Youth and Sports Ministry meeting held ahead of SAFF and AFC tournaments

Dhaka: The SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018 and the AFC U16 Women’s Championship 2019 qualifiers will be held respectively from September 4-15 and from September 15-23 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium and the BSSSM Mostofa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh. In order to discuss agenda to hold the two tournaments smoothly and successfully, a meeting was held in the conference room of the Youth and Sports Ministry on Tuesday. Youth and Sports secretary Mohammad Abdullah presided over the meeting. All the 7 SAFF nations will participate in the SAFF Suzuki Cup 2018. They are Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh. On the other hand, 5 teams will participate in the AFC U16 Women’s Championship 2019 qualifiers including Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Lebanon and hosts Bangladesh. At the meeting, the security of all the players, officials and invited guests was discussed as priority one. It was also announced at the meeting that all the necessary measures have been taken to hold the two international tournaments successfully. Youth and Sports additional secretary A B M Ruhul Azad, Md. Anowarul Islam Sarkar, National Sports Council (NSC) secretary Md. Masud Karim, BFF General Secretary Md Abu Nayeem Shohag and other concerned members of the Ministry, the NSC and the BFF were also present at the meeting.
