U15 girls off to flying start, thrash Malaysia 10-1

Hong Kong, March 30:Bangladesh U-15 girls strolled into their first comfortable victory of Jockey CGI Youth Football Tournament 2018 when they outplayed Malaysia 10-1 in Hong Kong on Friday morning.

The Bangladesh girls maintained their sheer dominance in the game right from the very kick-off till the final whistle, keeping the ball inside Malaysia’s half for the majority of the time.

Shamsunnahar Sr., Tahura and Anai Mogini scored two goals each.

Bangladeshi girls started celebration early in the match when Shajeda Khatun netted the first goal at 13th minute. Tahura doubled the lead after 5 minutes.

Shamsunnahar Sr. made it 3-0 in the 21st minute while Anai netted her first goal at 24th. Shamsunnahar Sr. scored another at 37th minute.

Bangladesh scored four goals in the second half. Anuching made the lead 7-0 at 46th minute. Shamsunnahar Jr. then added another in the 55th minute while Anai scored her second goal in the 68th minute. Nilufar Yeasmin Nila scored the last goal of Bangladesh in the 70th.

However, Malaysia managed to score a goal in the 53rd minute.

In an immediate reaction after the match, Head Coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, “Our girls are playing superb football. They gave their hundred percent effort against Malaysia.”

“Three debutants — Shohagi, Munni and Rumi – also played a fantastic game and combined well with their teammates,” he added.

Talking about his plans for the tournament, Choton said, “Our team made a good start. But we’ll go match by match and try our best to win the rest of them. Our next match is against Iran. They are a strong team. But we want to keep the winning momentum going and register a win against them by playing good football.”

Meanwhile, debutant Shohagi said, “I’m very happy with the big win in my first international match. We’ll be more careful against a stronger Iran side in the next match and I’ll try to give it my all if I play in the next match.”

Bangladesh is playing against Malaysia, Iran and host Hong Kong in Jockey CGI Youth Football Tournament 2018. U-15 girls are scheduled to play against Iran on Saturday.

The U-15 contingent left Dhaka on March 29 and is scheduled to arrive home on April 2nd after finishing the tournament.
