PM hosts a grand reception for U-16 girls, hands over cheque rewards

Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has hosted a grand reception for the U-16 National Women’s Team at her official residence Ganabhaban on Thursday afternoon at 5pm. The U-16 girls recently triumphed in the recently concluded AFC U-16 Women’s Football Championship 2019 qualifier undefeated and topped the tables to qualify for the final rounds. The red and greens locked horns against Bahrain, UAE, Vietnam and Lebanon at the Birshreshtha Shahid Sipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium from September 15 to 23. PM Sheikh Hasina handed over Tk.10 lakh cheques to each of the members of the winning team and Tk.5 lakh cheques to the officials who orchestrated the success. Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) president Kazi Salahuddin, Youth and Sports Minister Arif Khan Joy, BFF Senior Vice-President Abdus Salam Murshedy and members of the federation’s executive committee attended the event at Ganabhaban alongside the players. The premier walked around the reception exchanging greetings during the event and took photos with the team.
