Ord vows to take BD forward

Dhaka, June 7: On Wednesday,English born Australian, Andrew Ord, the head coach of Bangladesh national football team, vowed to take his team forward in coming days.

The 38-year-old coach was officially introduced at the BFF House in presence of BFF president Kazi Salahuddin. The chairman of the National Team’s Committee and vice president Kazi Nabil Ahmed, vice president Kazi Tabith Awal, general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag and other executive committee members were also present at the ceremony.

Ord expressed optimism as he took over the responsibility, “I believe in myself. Bangladesh is a big country. There has to be 23 good players here. We are going to find them. I don’t believe they should be 193 in world ranking. We have to work hard to find them and create some youngsters too. With proper training and support from the federation, I’m sure we will climb up the ranking,” said Ord.

While training the team, Ord was planning to introduce his own style, “The way to play in Bangladesh is not like the way in England or USA or Brazil . You have got to create your own identity, own style.”

“I am not a wizard. I don’t have a magic wand. I can’t make things happen out of nothing. We need to find the good players, we need to work with them, give them some confidence and belief. Get them enjoying the game again. We need to take the national team to a higher level. Everybody has to raise their bar. I’m committed to my job. I didn’t come here to relax,” assured an upbeat Ord.
