Much awaited BPL 2018-19 kicks-off tomorrow

Dhaka: The much awaited 2018-19 season of Bangladesh Premier League football is set to kick-off on Friday, January 18, 2019. Reigning champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd. will square off against newly promoted NoFeL Sporting Club at the Bangabandhu National Stadium at 3:30pm. Later in the day, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd. will play new powerhouse of Dhaka’s football Bashundhara Kings at 6:30pm. This season, there are lots of things to talk about regarding the BPL and that is why fans cannot wait to see the ball rolling on the pitch. There are World Cup-playing top-quality international footballers, promising local youngsters and several are key factors that makes BPL 2018-19 a season of Bangladesh’s top tier football to look forward to. One the most important aspects of this season of BPL is the incorporation of six venues in the league pool. The venues are: Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka; Rafique Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium, Mymensingh; Sheikh Kamal Stadium, Nilphamari; Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium, Gopalganj; Shahid Bulu Stadium, Noakhali; and Sylhet District Stadium, Sylhet. The BFF has taken the initiative to take the top tier of nation’s football outside the capital to catch the football craze of the remote areas of the country as well as inspire new generation of grassroots footballers by giving them a chance to enjoy quality football at their doorsteps. This time around, a total of 13 teams will compete in the BPL including newcomers NoFeL and Bashundhara. The fixture of the first phase of BPL 2018-19 has already been published.
