BFF responds to JFA semifinal complaints

The final round of JFA U14 Women’s National Championship 2019, organized by Bangladesh Football Federation, was held at BSSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the capital’s Kamalapur from July 12 to 19. In the second semifinal on July 18, Thakurgaon defeated Mymensingh in tiebreaker to go through to the final match of the competition. After the match, the Mymensingh team filed a complaint against the Thakurgaon team with the BFF Women’s Football Committee Chairman as per the Article 10 of the tournament’s bylaws. According to their complaint, team Thakurgaon clearly violated the Article 3 of the bylaws, which says, “No player can participate the tournament more than twice even though she is in her proper age.” Mymensingh officials also submitted related documents and proofs in favor of their allegation. It is every team’s moral obligation and legal responsibility to read out the bylaws clearly and abide by the rules and regulations mentioned there. Therefore, the Thakurgaon team must had to registrar their players after verifying all the information thoroughly. After investigating Mymensingh’s allegation and verifying the proofs and documents send by the team, the BFF found that the Thakurgaon team officials, apart from the players, are similarly responsible for hiding the information and breaching the tournament’s code of conducts. In this point, the BFF Women’s Football Committee have all the rights to decide on this matter, according to the Article 15 of the bylaws. The committee had analyzed all the international rules and regulations related to this particular case before giving the full three points to Mymensingh U14 team instead of Thakurgaon. As per the authorities’ decision, a letter was sent to Thakurgaon U14 team to inform about the development that they could not take part in the final match of the competition. But Thakurgaon team refused to receive the letter and accept the decision made by the authorities. They also threatened the authorities that they would set barriers and create chaos on the final match day so that the match does not roll on the ground. As per their previous plan, Thakurgaon players and officials locked into an altercation and quarreled with the on-duty gatemen and policemen just before the match. Even they entered into the stadium pushing off the policemen and created a chaotic situation on the pitch, which is totally against the professional football activities. Also, assaulting the on-duty police personnel is a criminal activity in the eye of the country’s law. Notably, Thakurgaon team did not complaint formally against any team or person to the BFF’s concerned committee during the tournament though they had orally alleged that several other teams committed the same perpetration they did. After all these, the Women’s Committee Chairman Mahfuza Akhter Kiron talked to the players and the officials of the Thakurgaon team to console them and advised them to abide by the rules and regulations properly. It is evident that the BFF Women’s Football Committee did not take any decision which is contrary to the footballing rules. Besides, the allegations made by Thakurgaon District U14 Women’s Team against the federation are just baseless.
