Bengal girls prepare to bounce back against India

Yangon: Bangladesh women’s Olympic team is training to rectify the mistakes made in the first match against Myanmar in a bid to bounce back against neighbours India in their match of Group C of Round 1 of the Asian qualifiers of Olympic 2020 women’s football discipline. Acknowledging the capability of the upcoming opponent, head coach Golam Rabbani Choton said, “India is arguably the best team in South Asia. They are a very strong side with many senior and experienced players.” “However, our players have also been playing international matches against world class teams like South Korea and we’ve also played Myanmar two days back. Our girls are ready to play a competitive match against India,” said Choton. Bangladesh team’s assistant coach Litu said that the staff have been working tirelessly with the players to come out of the costly mistakes made in the previous match. “They players are giving it their all to fix the issues. India is a better team than us with many experienced players. However, we’ll give our all to come out with a good result from the match,” said Litu. Prolific centre-back Akhi Khatun reiterated her coaches’ words in taking India as a formidable opponent. “We’ve played against India and we know just how good a team they are. But we’re also preparing for the game and we will give it our all to play a good match against India in the second qualifier match,” said Akhi. The match between Bangladesh and India will kick-off at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar at 2:30pm (BDST) on Sunday, November 11. After spending a recovery day on Thursday, the girls were back in the training ground on Friday. The team had a relaxing walk this morning with an exercise routine and stretching. The players will have a training session close to the match venue on Friday afternoon. Whole of the squad were upbeat and energetic. The stretching contained dynamic exercises with a position specific with patterns. In the evening, all the players and staff will sit for a meeting to prepare plans for the India game.
