BCL: Dhaka City beat Swadhinata 2-1, Uttar Baridhara draw with T&T

Dhaka: Newcomers Dhaka City FC have occupied the second spot on the BCL 2018-19 table after beating Swadhinata KS 2-1 at the BSSSM Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Wednesday. Mahbub was left to rue his mistake only three minutes into the game when his own goal put Dhaka City in the lead. However, the dramatic match saw two goals being scored in extra time after the allotted 90 minutes. First, Amirul scored to equalize and throw cold water on their rivals’ happiness. However, within a minute, Bokor scored the winner for Dhaka City and sent all the players, staff members and fans into frenzy. Dhaka City now have 22 points from 13 games – same as toppers Police FC – but are placed second due to an inferior goal difference. Swadhinata, on the other hand, have slid down into the relegation zone with 12 points from 14 matches. In the other match of the day, Uttar Baridhara Club and T&T Club, Motijheel played out a 1-all draw. Turzo put T&T Club in the lead in the 79th minute. However, his goal was cancelled out by Swapon only five minutes later. With the draw, T&T Club moved up to the 4th spot on the table with 19 points from 14 games whereas Uttar Baridhara are on the 6th position with 18 points having played a match less.
