Bangladesh bow out of SAFF Women’s Championship from semis

Biratnagar: Bangladesh national women’s team is out of the SAFF Women’s Championship after losing to India in the second semi-final at the Sahid Rangashala in Biratnagar, Nepal on Wednesday afternoon. The Bengal girls went down 4-0 to India in the second semi-final where India showed superior physicality, maturity and experience. Bangladesh started off brightly but India soon began to put pressure on the Bangladesh backline and got the breakthrough in the 18th minute. The second came only five minutes later. Then India made it 3-0 in the 37th minute putting Bangladesh under huge pressure. http://jalaleeradio.com/uploads/212526.jpg The teams went into the break with India leading 3-0. After the break, Bangladesh played more cautiously and kept the Indian attackers at bay. However, tired legs let the Bengal girls down when India found their fourth and final goal in the 3rd minute of added time. India will contest the SAFF trophy in the final against hosts Nepal two days later. Nevertheless, Bangladesh women’s national team, made up mostly of U18 players with 5 U16 players in the starting line-up, bows out of the competition with promise to do overcome the shortcomings of this edition of the SAFF Women’s Championship. The Red and Greens will take many positives from the tournament which has been a great learning opportunity for many of the players who have their whole career ahead to develop and come back stronger than ever
