Sylhet: Bangladesh have made a flying start by beating Laos 1-0 in the first match of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Tournament at the Sylhet District Stadium today.
The sole goal of the game was scored by winger Biplo Ahmed in the 60th minute after two failed attempts when Nabib Newaz Jibon’s initial shot was warded off and Mahbubur Rahman Sufil’s shot was tipped to the crossbar by the Laos goalkeeper.
Biplo was at the near post and his shot hit the goalkeeper on the leg before finding its way into the net.
Bangladesh will face Philippines in their last Group B match on October 5 at the same venue.
Nepal will face Tajikistan in the first match of Group A tomorrow.
