Dhaka: The colourful draw ceremony of the prestigious Bangabandhu Gold Cup 2018 was held at Le Méridien Dhaka on Saturday.
Bangladesh has been drawn in Group B of the 6-nation tournament along with Laos and Philippines whereas Nepal, Palestine and Tajikistan have been drawn in Group A.
The curtain on Bangabandhu Gold Cup 2018 will rise on October 1 and the football fiesta will end with the grand finale on October 12.
All the matches of the tournament will be played at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka and Sylhet District Stadium, Sylhet.
The draw ceremony of the tournament commenced at 11am and was attended by Youth and Sports Minister Sri Biren Shikder, MP, BFF and SAFF president Kazi Md Salahuddin, Palestine ambassador to Bangladesh Yousuf Ramadan, acting ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh Dhan Bahadur Oli, AFC representative to the FIFA Council Mahfuza Akter Kiron, K-Sports chief executive Fahad M A Karim and various other prominent personnel.
BFF president Kazi Salahuddin and senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy shed lights on various details of the tournament.
The BFF President stated that the 5 Asian nations were chosen to be invited to play in the prestigious tournament.
The glittering draw ceremony then ended with a colourful representation of the participating countries’ culture.
