Dhaka: Table toppers Bashundhara Kings have got their expected win against mid-table Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in their first match of the second phase of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The Kings played the match pressing their opponents from the very first minute of the game that took place at Sheikh Kamal Stadium, Nilphamari and earned the 3-1 victory.
The toppers took the lead in the 36th minute when their foreign recruit Marcos netted the first goal of the match with a powerful shot from the edge of the D box.
Neither team could score in the first half anymore.
But after the break, Dhanmondi boys leveled the score line at the 51st minute of the play with a real counter attack. This time the scorer’s name is Sambou, another foreigner.
After watching the foreigners’ strikes, Bashundhara’s local forward Motin might have thought that it’s time to show the brilliance of country’s footballer.
Then he scored his first goal at the 56th minute with an amazing head. At the 63rd minute, Motin netted his second and Kings’ third goal.
However, no changes came in the point table after this match as the Kings just consolidated their throne with 37 points from 13 matches.
On the other hand, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi is now at the 8th position with 14 points from same number of matches.
