U18 boys fly to Bhutan Saturday

Dhaka, September 15: The Bangladesh national U18 football team is set to fly to the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan to feature in the SAFF U18 Championship 2017 on Saturday.

The five nation tournament is scheduled to kick off from Monday.

Sri Lanka has opted out of the meet while Pakistan failed to turn up due to their internal turmoil.

Bangladesh faces India in the inaugural match of the meet.

In a press conference held at the BFF House on Friday, coach Mahbub Hossain Roksy vowed to put a good show despite the lack of ideal preparation.

“We had gone through four-level training camp including the trial after which these 23 players have been selected. However, it was not possible to congregate all the players except for the last three days, we are going to Bhutan with only three days of preparation” said Roksy.

“It would have been better if we had more days together. Now, we want to move forward with whatever we have got. There are many talented players in the team,” added Roksy.

Kazi Nabil Ahmed, the chairman of the BFF’s National Team Committee hoped the team will display its full potential.

“This team will play in Bhutan this month and the next month they will be playing in Tajikistan. We hope to see the future stars in the team,” said Nabil.
