SAFF U18: Confident Bangladesh ready for India face off

Dhaka, September 17: Bangladesh will take on India in one of the opening day matches of SAFF U18 Championship on September 18 at Chalimithang Stadium in Bhutan.

Bangladesh coach Mahabub Hossain Roksy said they were confident before facing favorite India.”No matter how better India is in football than us, their strength will be tested in the field tomorrow.”

“We are mentally prepared and ready to play well against India and beat them,” Roksy said.

Bangladesh skipper Tutul Hossain Badsha showed respect to India but said they test opponent’s strength in the field. “India might be the strongest team in the tournament but their strength will be tested tomorrow.”

Tutul said they didn’t have much time to prepare but that won’t be a problem as players were busy with their respective Clubs.

“We are confident to play well against India and bring good results for the nation,” he said.

In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh play their second match against the Maldives on September 20, the third match against Nepal on September 25 and the last group match against Bhutan on September 27.

The five nation tournament will be held in round-robin system and the top team of the group will be declared champions followed by runners-up and third place team.

Sri Lanka has opted out of the meet while Pakistan failed to turn up due to their internal turmoil.
