Dhaka: Monika Chakma, who took Bangladesh’s football arena by storm with a wonder goal against Mongolia, has now made it to FIFA’s weekly fan favourite list.
Naming Monika as ‘Magical Chakma’, FIFA featured Monika’s goal at the top of their top five list.
Even though there is no specific ranking or order of the top five featured materials, FIFA, on the website, wrote “What better way to kick things off than with one of our favourite goals of the week? Bangladesh women’s U-19 talent Monika Chakma unleashed this stunning volley against Mongolia.”
Monika scored an eye-popping volley to break the deadlock against Mongolia in the second semifinal of the just finished Bangamata U19 Women’s International Gold Cup 2019.
She first took the ball under her stride by beating a Mongolia defender with a deft header and then unleashed a left-footed thunderbolt that bulged the Mongolia net.
The goal mesmerized football fans all over the world thanks to social media and then on May 3, it was officially recognized by FIFA as a Fans’ Favourite moment under social media hashtag #WeLiveFootball .
The BFF, just like all the football fans of the country believes that Bangladeshi talents would shine globally in the near future and this goal by Monika is just a beginning.
