Mamunul’s goal voted AFC Cup Goal of the Week

Abahani stalwart Mamunul Islam’s scorcher against Manang Marshyangdi Club in the fifth group match of AFC Cup 2019 has been voted by football fans as the tournament’s goal of the week. The-AFC.com on Friday announced that Abahani Dhaka Limited’s Mamunul Islam is the winner of this week’s Goal of the Week presented by Allianz for the 2019 AFC Cup after a public vote on the AFC’s official website. Mamunul’s goal topped off a commanding 5-0 victory for Abahani to put the Dhaka giants 2 points clear at the top of Group E. The scintillating left-foot long ranger from the former Bangladesh skipper was chosen as one of the top four goals of the week. The four goals were then put up on the AFC website for the fans to vote. When the poll ended at 2:00pm on Friday, Mamunul emerged as the winner with 7997 out of a total 15520 votes that were cast. Mamunul accumulated 52% of the votes whereas Mohammed Al Wakid managed 46%. His brilliant goal from the halfway line received 7190 votes. Dilshod Vasiev came third with 299 votes (2%) whereas Samuel Lalmuanpuia received 34 votes. This recognition is a testament of the player’s hard work and the fans’ love for him. After the results were published, Mamunul took to social media to thank his fans and promised to create more occasions of joy for his followers. Mamunul’s team Dhaka Abahani will take on Minerva Punjab in the last group match in a bid to make it to the knockout stage of the AFC Cup for the first time in their history.
