High-flying Mongolia shredded to pieces by Laos in 5-0 rout

Dhaka: The Laos girls bagged a mammoth 5-0 win over Mongolia in the Bangamata U19 Women’s International Gold Cup 2019 on Thursday. Laos started their journey in the tournament with this Group A match that was kicked off at Bangabandhu National Stadium at 6pm. The Mongolian girls may have had some confidence stored in their hearts before the match since they had already played their first match and earned a 3-0 victory against Tajikistan. But the Laos team played keeping their dominance throughout the match and did not give their opponents any chance to come back. Laos playmaker Pe scored in the second minute of the game to break Mongolia’s confidence. In the 13th minute of the game, forward and captain Aphatsala scored her first goal. She netter her second and Laos’s third goal in the 32nd minute. Mongolia tried to overcome the deficit from the very first minute of the second half. However, their plan did not work out. Rather, they let in the fourth goal in the 50th minute when Laos forward Pe scored her second goal. The Laos girls ended their goal festival at the 82nd minute with a strike from defender Saysamone. After this match, both Laos and Mongolia have three points but Laos would take on Tajikistan in the last group game which will decide who the semi-finalists would be from Group A.
