BFF, Sonali Otit Club mourn death of footballers Mizanur Rahman Mizan, Nasir Uddin Ahmed

Dhaka: Two renowned footballers of the 80s, Mizanur Rahman Mizan and Nasir Uddin Ahmed Nasir, have breathed their last at around 9:30am on Sunday, August 4 in Samarita Hospital and Square Hospital respectively. Both of them had suffered from brain strokes. During his lifetime, Mizanur Rahman Mizan served as the joint-general secretary of the Sonali Otit Club and Director of WAPDA. He was reputed for his skills while playing for WAPDA Club and Barisal District Team. He breathed his last at 69, leaving behind his wife, a son and a daughter alongside many relatives and well-wishers. He will be buried in the Azimpur Old Graveyard after his Namaz-e-Zanaja at the Moghbazar Peyarbagh Jame Masjid after Asr prayers. Another blistering footballer of the 80s, Nasir Uddin Ahmed served as the vice-president of the Sonali Otit Club in his lifetime and played with glory for Brothers Union, General Insurance and Keraniganj District teams. He breathed his last at 63 years of age after suffering from liver cirrhosis for a long time. He has left behind his wife, a son and a daughter along with many close ones and well-wishers. He will be buried in the Banani Graveyard after his Namaz-e-Zanaja after Juhr prayers at the Nakhalpara Jame Masjid. BFF president Kazi Salahuddin, senior vice-president, vice-presidents, executive committee members, general secretary Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, standing committees, officials and employees alongside president, general secretary and committee members of the Sonali Otit Club have expressed their grief at the death of Mizanur Rahman Mizan and Nasir Uddin Ahmed and extended their sympathy for the bereaved family members.
