BD girls make history

Yangon: Bangladesh women’s team has made history at the senior national team level. The young Bangladesh Women’s Football team drew their final game against Nepal in the 2020 Senior Women Olympic Qualifiers in Myanmar. This is the first time ever that Bangladesh have not lost to Nepal in senior women’s football. The 1-1 scoreline again created another milestone of progress and history in Women’s football following the young team’s first ever win in an AFC U19 tournament against Tajikistan 5-1 in Dushanbe a few weeks ago. The Bangladesh goal came in the 92 minute from a corner. This showed again real character, desire and a never give up attitude, following two heavy defeats in the competition against both Myanmar and India respectively. Mr Choton, once again was full of admiration for his young team and players. We recovered physically and emotionally very well after the India game. We prepared professionally for the Nepal game and our plan worked very well. I was extremely pleased that Aki scored from our corner as we spend a lot of time in our preparation on set plays. The young Bangladesh team continue to reach milestones of immense proportion. In two weeks the team and players have created and reached two historical landmarks for Women’s Football. Aki Khatun was proud of her goal and was excited for everyone that we finished the tournament on a high. She mentioned her desire to continue and learn and feels this level of International competition is invaluable to her and the other young players. The players will recover tomorrow and return to Dhaka in the afternoon.
