Bangamata Gold Cup trophy unveiled

Dhaka: The champion and the runners up trophies of Bangamata U19 Women’s International Gold Cup-2019 have been unveiled at at the ballroom in the capital’s Hotel Intercontinental on Sunday afternoon. Organized by BFF, the tournament is set to begin at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Monday and to be continued till May 3. A total of six teams – UAE, Laos, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Mongolia and hosts Bangladesh – will take part in the race for the title. National Parliament speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, one of the patrons of country’s women’s football, was present at the ceremony as the chief guest. Among others, the tournament’s local organizing committee chairman and BFF senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedi, MP; deputy chairman of the committee and BFF vice president Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP; FIFA council member, AFC and BFF executive committee member and BFF women football committee chairman Mahfuza Akhter Kiron; BFF general secretary Md Abu Nayeem Sohag, BFF members Md Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir, Md Amirul Islam Babu, Md Fazlur Rahman Babul, Amit Khan Shuvro and K-sports CEO Fahad MA Karim were present at the function. Besides, Tajikistan coach Latipov Kanoot, captain Manjona Faizulloeva, Laos coach Vong Mi Say, captain Aphat Sala, Mongolia coach Ganbold, captain Undral, UAE coach Houriya Al Taheri, captain Al Anood Khaled, Kyrgyzstan coach Nataliya Gaivoronskaya, captain Toktobolotovd, Bangladesh coach Golam Rabbani Choton, captain Misrat Jahan Moushumi and manager Amirul Islam Babu were also present there. After the ceremony, a press conference was held when the coaches and the captains from all the teams talked to media about their preparation and the plan centering the tournament. In group ‘A’, Tajikistan, Laos and Mongolia will face each other while hosts Bangladesh have to take Kyrgyzstan and UAE challenges in the group stage. Every team has promised to give a good fight to the other contenders for going up to the semifinals. However, all the visiting teams have recognized Bangladesh as the most favorite since the hosts have a good opportunity to use the advantage of their home ground. The tournament will roll on the ground at 6 pm on Monday with the match between UAE and hosts Bangladesh. Bangladesh coach Choton and Captain Moushumi urged the supporters and the football lovers in the country to come to the stadium and inspire the home team with roars.
